Surprisingly, halal food in New York is quite easy to get, not as abundant as in the UK in general, but still, kami tak la kemaruk daging & ayam sgt hehe... Kat Time Square, most of the Falafel & Kebab cart tu Halal, as written on the cart...

kalo tak comfortable, boleh bertanya owner, and they won't lie, i'allah... we've encountered a place with partly halal meal & i wanted fried chicken that time, but the owner tu terus terang cakap
'we don't have halal chicken today, normally we do, but not today - sorry.. only beef', so baik la jugak kan diorang beterus terang ;)
There's Halal Chinese takeaway (2127, 2nd Avenue)... we ordered beef broccoli and sweet & sour chicken, both came with white rice...
the portion was very generous, should have ordered just one! beef sgt sedap, chicken tu byk sgt tepung laaa....

Then, we came accross this Marrakesh Restaurant at Amsterdam Avenue.

Macam restoran Arab... Nasi dia macam nasi Briyani - we took the mutton & chicken, amat3 sedap...

2 kali kitorang datang cni ;) kalo tamau nasik, boleh buat jadi kebab. Dua2 pun sedap!
At China Town, we dine in at one of the restaurant off Canal Street (tak ingt nama jalan, maybe it was Mott St?).. hmm kat sini ada incident memalukan sket... as this was the first time dining in, we never knew how much to tip, so we gave 10%... rupa2 nye tak cukup... must be around 15-20% haha... lepas2 tu mmg igt la sampai bila2!

Anyway, kat sini takde Halal Restaurant, so, macam biasa, order sayur & seafood aje laa....
Then, kat Brooklyn pulak - paling byk Halal restaurant I think... as keluar subway je dah nampak 2-3 kedai halal... mostly middle eastern food la - yg kitorang try ni was Istanbul kot... ntah la, dah lapa sgt, tak sempat nak perhati lebih2...
Pastu, hubby saya yg ditugaskan cari tempat2 halal untuk makan ni telah menjumpai
The Olive Tree Restaurant, the first Halal Italian Restaurant in NYC, well in Lexington Av to be exact. Owner is Indian, hence I don't know how authentic the food was... I ordered meatball spaghetti

& Juri took the big steak...

hmmm, rasa mmg sedap - suit our taste, but nothing I haven't tasted before =) Expect to pay ala2 makan kat Itallianies / Tony Roma's / TGI Friday in Malaysia, as this area is quite exclusive and total bill kalo convert mau dekat RM200 gak, so be prepared...
And tak sah la kalo tak savour the American's bite kan? Here are some that we sampled ;)
Applebee's

Cheese Cake - so simple yet so scrumptious...
this was at Time Square, rupanya tak lawa, but laku sgt2... box upon boxes were opened, non-stop! Tak menang tangan server tu... Portion per piece pun amat besar, good for 3 sharing... kitorang makan sampai the next day, bukan tak sedap, tapi kitorang already had pizza sekali, so tak bleyla nak habiskan semuanye hehe

Yummy Gooey Brownies - we had Ben & Jerry's and another one apa ntah, but both were really really seductive & addictive! Gamba2 ni google, tak sempat tangkap dah lesap sume hehe...

Lotus - a chinese franchise, wajib ada kat mana2 foodcourt - especially kat outlet mall hehe... love the noodles~
and Sbarro - also a franchise yg wujud kat malls, got pizza & pastas... bukan setakat kat NY, kat Amsterdam Airport pun kitorang pulun pizza dia... not as fresh as the local pizza place kat NYC though...
And of course - the usual McD (ice coffee yg amat best),
Starbucks (every meal ada calory count) and Dunkin Do (tak mkn donut pun hehe, we had it's bfast - white egg omlette panini wt hash brown, boleh tahan gak )
So, as u can see, saya mmg tak masak pun - husband saya tak kasi angkut sardin / maggi / beras what not, even though the places we stayed at mmg boleh je kalo nak masak... dia nak rasa jadik local plus he knows that saya akan tergolek lepas jalan2 sebab tak larat hehe...
Now, got to go shed this holiday fat huhu~
