Magnolia Bakery & Bleecker Street

Ok, so I was dreading to feel what it was like being the ladies in SATC. Dreamt of joining the tour, but it costs us $42 each?? Hmm, had to let that go as most of the itenerary include visits to the bars & restaurants where we cudn't even enjoy pun kan.... so we took the most innocent option - buy a cupcake where Miranda & Carrie had theirs... like this...

Masa google2, I had the impression that the Magnolia Bakery would be so packed & crowded. From the subway station (which I can't recall which one rite now as Juri je yg in charge of how-to-get-there, I just name the place hehe), we walked quite a distant to find the place... Greenwich Village - Bleecker Street - 8th Avenue - W11th Street... hoho, it wasn't as easy!! Ye la, kata tourist spot, sepatutnye within 2 minutes walk off subway la kan - so I thought!

We were looking for a place with people queing up (to buy the cupcakes), so maybe that was the reason why we ended up no where! Rupa2nya, such a humble small bakery at the end corner of a street...
and, we were the only customer when we found it! Takde pun jam packed ke hape...

Anyway, the cupcake was heavenly delish I tell you!!! Seriously, if I can pack it home & share it with u, I wud have... but expect it to be devillish sweet...
i am so not into sweet treats that much, but as i was on holiday, all that forgotten hehe... chocolate cupcake with green frosting was the best... lemon curd, not so much huhu~

As I mentioned earlier, the place looks so humble... after we bought the cupcakes and enjoyed it at the park nearby, my eyes were locked at this shop window...
Hmm, betul ke tempat ni... I thought I saw someone carrying MBMJ paperback just now, but maybe she just came out of her townhouse kat belakang bakery tu.... but nope, it is the real thing... It's Bleecker Street !!! Ok, excited aje lebih, tapi to be honest, I know nothing about this infamous street. Selalu dgr dalam TV, but hmm, ntah kenapa tak pay attention sgt... Juri plak kata yg Bleecker St ni byk tempat makan best2 - from his research laa... tu yg jakun sgt tu bila nampak MBMJ store!!

Jalan punya jalan, lagi la bertambah jakun! I mean, for a place that looks so humble, it is so posh! Org pun tak ramai, kedai pun ala2 kedai runcit... when looked at closely, baru confirm, yup - its Ralph Lauren, Lulu, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Juicy and the list goes on...

then it triggered me that this is a posh place after all, I mean, I did see nannies & mannies walking out babies masa sesat2 sebelum tu, macam cerita the Nanny's Diary tu... cuma maybe as it was not as posh as Upper East side (where each apartment ada guard kat bwh tu), I just could not add it up... but yeah, it is what it is... and saya masih jakun & dreaming of leaving in one of the townhouse one day... hmmm, sewa semalam dua pun jadi la hehe...

the townhouse =)

Anyway, such a great experience that money cudn't buy kan... sesat2 ni ada baiknye, can see & learn a lot of things, especially when least expected ;)

Oh yeah, as I love this street so much, I felt sad leaving it afterwards... rasa mmg nak dtg sgt2 lagi... to window shop & of course, rasa cupcake yg heavan sangat tu... what a luck it was when I got to know that we're picking up our rented car at Charles St towards the end of our stay in Manhattan. Charles St ni amat2 dekat & mmg cross with Bleecker St... 2 minit aje jalan from Bleecker st, terus jumpa Dollar Rental Car.. hehe =) saya amat bahagia, & beli cupcake lagi ~ and since dah dapat kereta, I paid another visit to the MBMJ store one day before our flight back ~ hehe, punya la suka sangat ng Bleecker St nih!!! So, in total, 3 kali saya datang sini, giller tak?
